Welcome to February’s first Country Kids, where you can find out what we’ve been up to at Kids of the Wild this week as well as joining in the outdoor linky co-hosted by Louise from Little Hearts Big Love, Helena from Queen of Collage and me here at Kids of the Wild.
NOTE FOR REGULAR READERS – #CountryKids is a bloggers community post, aimed mainly at fellow outdoor bloggers. A linky is where bloggers can promote their work – a collection of different bloggers’ writing in one place.
Outdoor family bloggers please click here or on ‘Inlinkz Link Party’ further down the page (see guidelines below) to add your blog post and find great reads by other bloggers.
At Kids of the Wild This Week
My post this week is about our new year’s day walk to an iron age hill fort, Brough Law in Northumberland. You can also get lots of snow day ideas in today’s post inspired by much of the country being off school due to snow. We had more hail than snow and Caroline’s class attended their usual beach school all day today.
We did the #BigGardenBirdwatch on Sunday with a disappointing turnout from the bird world, though they turned up in droves as soon as our hour was up!
Today, February 1st, is the Celtic festival of Imbolc, symbolising the quickening of the year and the stirrings of new life as Mother Nature begins to awaken to Spring. Read about the lovely Imbolc art and nature crafts we did the year Caroline’s cancer was diagnosed. Are you doing anything to celebrate Spring in nature this weekend?
On Monday Caroline is helping launch the promotion of the North of England Children’s Cancer Research charity fun run (taking place May 19th) so she’ll be having some fun at the hospital on Monday morning.
